I have (or had- not sure if someone cleared out a drawer with some of my childhood mementos at the old family homestead) a voo-doo pincushion doll from Haiti made of burlap, with carved wooden "pins". My dad's sister and her husband traveled and brought some interesting things to me when I was a kid.
