Margaret Dumont had a whole career playing it straight to Groucho. Surprised to see Kitty Carlisle with the female lead. This not being one of their better films, imho.

He screwed up the chemistry by introducing more musical numbers and romantic subplots. Not just Night of the Opera, but the films to follow. None could match the comedic genius of the Paramount efforts.
