on TCM. It was from 1951 and his last movie because he refused to name names in the HUAC red scare. He was therefore black listed and his career crashed. He died soon after at 39. His friends blamed it on the stress he was under to name names.
That explains John Garfield's film demise and death actually, but does anyone know what happend to George Raft's career who it's said was replaced by Garfield in the dark-haired, handsome type with some menace to his looks. Raft's career also cratered but he didn't die early.
After Garfield there came Dane Clark.

(6,306 posts)He died of a heart attack, so young. I love his pictures. Favorite was Pride of the Marines. My Dad took me to see it when I was just a kid and I never forgot it.

LOVED Eleanor Parker. Fine actress.
