Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.

Saw this last night and I have to say it was really very good. Gary Oldman was superb as Smiley. The movie was perfectly paced so that even if you didn't know the story, hadn't read the book, didn't see the BBC series, you still got drawn into the tale...

Zero flash, subtle sub-plot under-currents, sparse dialogue, and a boatload of suspense, truly a masterpiece...Highly recommend it.

Do NOT go if you prefer your spy tales to include car chases, hot chicks, tons of explosions and impossible stunts...This one makes you engage your brain instead...

He has long been overlooked. George Clooney is favored to win, but I'd like to see Oldman finally honored for this film and a reflection of his body of work.

OMG it is a really compelling drama starring Tilda Swinton for which she has been nominated for an Oscar. Although Meryl Streep is favored to win, Swinton's performance in this film is really spectacular.

I was holding out until I had seen the Swedish trilogy, but the two times I sat down to watch I never made it past the first hour. My friend could not stop giggling at the bad subtitles. So I finally watched the remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and really, really liked it. Rooney Mara was quite good. Although I still am rooting for Tilda Swinton for her performance, neither of us will win this one because the Best Actress Oscar will almost certainly be Meryl Streeped. It's just one of the natural laws of the universe. LOL.

I saw the TV movie on PBS like over 30 years ago and I just bought the set at the suggestion of Keith Olberman. It was really good. Is the movie anything like the TV show?
