Your composition, technique, use of color … all first rate. I love it.

I think city and building landscapes have a unique beauty. You captured it well!

paintings that do that — especially in urban settings. Kudos for great work. I’d ask how much, but I’m sure it’s above my pay grade — not to mention a likely violation of DU policy .

It creates a real atmosphere making me feel cold from the snow. The neon lights on the diner are glowing through the cold. I just love it.

Evocative and moody. Quite striking. I don't often have a positive response to paintings but yours caught my attention and drew me in.

This one is in my part of town:

Yep, same thing, old dining car, but less paint and more chrome.

Late at night, the diner is like a beacon in the murky darkness and damp fog. It’s enticing with its neon lights and shiny metal exterior, standing like a late addition to our culture. I think it’s great that you call it a landscape because to me it seems like you’ve painted just that in portraying a piece of Americana which is instantly recognizable and for many elicits a feeling of nostalgia.

It appears to be set in a city already dark and unlit except for the lone street lamp which glows as it lights up the night mist. All the elements leave you with a sense of loneliness, even the one figure walking by. But there is also a feeling of curiosity to see who is inside. Who would be eating at such an hour? So in a way it serves a voyeuristic medium to spy on the people inside and make up stories about them.

Thanks! It’s an amazing painting!

As I recall, the waiter was a real character. He might have been the owner. He got mad when I asked if I could take his picture. But then he warmed up and was super friendly.

This one was tricky because of the light, or the lack of it, and the search for neon-ish paint for the sign. I was trying for a Hopper vibe; it's obviously light-years from his skill level but if it reached even a tiny fraction of that mood I can be satisfied. I do enjoy experimenting.
