(15,325 posts)On the man's right side, written in the red brushstrokes.
All I can read is, "All around..."
His writing must be as beautiful & thoughtful as his artwork, I'm guessing.
Knowing what he wrote would tell us something about the story within the painting.

(4,738 posts)I think I expected something like Bush's paintings. These actually have a spirit and feel all their own. I love his use of color, but than I'm a bit of a freak for color and dynamics. Thanks for sharing. What an amazing family.

(49,723 posts)And it has nothing to do with the fact that a Biden is the artist. I think they are really interesting. I also love his use of color.

(15,325 posts)I am quite intrigued by the depth of expression, that reflects not only the artist, as little as we actually know of him personally, but also what we see & feel within ourselves as we view it.

(53,410 posts)Explore the possibilities of the designs. Sometimes to the effect of large stream of conscious applications with the repetition of shapes in different sizes and colors. I think Hunter likes color and allows himself to doodle with it and he likes the different effects of the various mixtures and surface interactivity. These all feel like experimental explorations of the paint as well as the composition and the surface on which he painted. Theyre exciting to look at and demand close scrutiny so the viewer can make sense of them. I really like art that challenges the viewer in some way. His work is eye popping too. The colors alone are fantastic, very clean and compelling. They have a slightly visually explosive quality.
His flowers are quite lovely and compelling. His geometrical designs are excellent too. I feel that he pushes his subject matter and the application of form, color and design further than most artists would and this gives his work a unique freshness and perspective.
Good work! Very effective in an explorative manner. It looks like its very natural for him. And his work invites you to explore it also. Its challenging and fun. I like that.

(15,325 posts)Would like to know the script on the one with the man. It is so fascinating & I keep going back to that one because its intrigue is in the many details.
Would love to hear him speak about this one.

(8,444 posts)They've used what I would consider soul-destroying language--at least it would have destroyed my creativity if anyone had ever directed language like that to me. They've used words like generic, hotel art aesthetic, screen saver. I would agree with them that the asking price would be much lower if no one knew they were his, but I also think people would review them more kindly if they didn't know they were his.
I hope he doesn't let it discourage him. I think he's talented.

(63,101 posts)the professors hate everything.
that said, the critics can go shove it.
they play to the highest bidder and mostly are perfunctory idiots hell bent on making a name for themselves because they are horrible artists themselves.
Hunters stuff is very intriguing, balanced, has wonderful use of color and negative space.
more over, it's thought provoking and shows a deep level of introspection.
unlike our former prez george w. morons - paint by numbers masterpieces. Which lacks everything I stated above.

(54,770 posts)" . . . . . . the news that George Bergès is pricing them at $75,000 for drawings and $500,000 for paintings is gonna turn heads. Even if they were mind-bending contemporary-art breakthroughs, that would put Bidenwho has never had an art show before, and started blowing ink on Japanese paper as a kind of therapy as he attempted to recover from multiple well-documented personal disastersin the very top tier of emerging artists."

(63,101 posts)for up and coming artists.
trying to make a name in the art world is also part marketing and competing against other artist prices.
if you sell your stuff way below market, you won't get the attention your art deserves.
I know, it's fucked up, but that's the art world.

(5,827 posts)Biden, but this guy doesnt deserve fawning adulation because his father is a great guy.
Same with Megan McCain who just has her fathers good name to cash in on.
I have had a post removed for this same topic. In no way would those paintings sell for so much without Joe Bidens name attached to it.

(15,325 posts)I love Van Gough's artwork but wouldn't want to have known him.
Unlike Megan McCain's opinionated political marketing, Hunter Biden has stayed out of politics.
Thrre's no similarity between the 2, or using her as a comparison.
This is about Art & Painting & personal appreciation & perception as it is viewed.
That is all it is.
I personally don't know enough about Hunter Biden to judge his whole of a person as it reflects in hi artwork.
And I'm certainly hoping we have more open minds as not to believe the msmedia's version of who he is.
I like this artist's work.
Pisces
(5,827 posts)Like she did when she got her job at the view with little qualification other than her name.
His paintings would not garner this attention or or dollar amount without the name Biden.

(54,770 posts)It didn't look good when the trump grifters did it, Billy Carter, Reagan's brother, etc.
With that said, I do like his work.
Budi
(15,325 posts)This art is his.
He's not marketing anything but his own talent.
Hunter Biden isn't in the same catagory as the 'other's.
He isn't selling his Name.
This is his own work.
And it is some intriguing appreciable art, regardless of his name.
This is his own talent, not some promo piece manufactured somewhere else that he simply slaps his Name on, nor penned by some journo seeking to make a buck off his Name.
This is his work only.
No one knew nor gave a shit who Hunter Biden was until Media, running oppo against his dad during a high stakes campaign, needed to create slander the likes of Tara Reade!!!, to muddy up an image.
C'mon now, We all know how that goes down, right?
Money & Media, baby!!

(15,325 posts)Pity some cannot get passed the loathing of a name.
This OP is about the art. In The Artist Forum.
You've managed to make it about the family Name of the artist.
No one has to appreciate a type of Art in the Art Forum, but keep your political sneers out of here.
Btw, Hunter Biden could paint a masterpiece of that bridge you got in mind.
His talent is all his.

(87,475 posts)A group not a forum. This is not GD or a place to discuss politics. Re-post it in GD and fire away if you must. Yet you need to respect a groups purpose.
A place for artists of all types to inspire each other, and to discuss and appreciate the visual arts.
You respect their rules. Sadly this Group does not have any hosts that could block you from the group.
This group is about Art NOT POLITICS!

Thank you for respecting the groups rules, Pisces.
I majored in art and yes I like them as well.
You are posting in the Artists Group. A group is not GD and this one by far is not a political group.
I am not a host however I ask you to keep political opinions in GD and not in a group who's mission statement is:
Statement of Purpose
A place for artists of all types to inspire each other, and to discuss and appreciate the visual arts.

(54,770 posts)dont think it looks good in context.
It might not hurt his dad, I certainly hope not, but it does not look good politically. Billy Beer was similarly ill advised. Obviously, the trumps took it to unimaginable levels.
It won't hurt his father as it has nothing to do with him. Hunter is an artist in his own right.

(67,782 posts)I don't see fawning adulation, I just see people respecting his right to run his life the way he chooses. At least he recognized his shortcomings years ago and has resolved them.
His paintings, Billy Carter's (RIP) beer, etc. sell for the prices people are willing to pay. If no one is willing to pay $500K for one of his paintings it won't get sold at that price.
When I was in high school, my father got me a summer job working in the warehouse of the company he worked at. I guess I was using his "good name" to cash in.

I saw him interviewed on some show talking about his book when he was letting it all hang out about his "Addiction" & he was candid, sincere, kind, funny, and obviously has a great, engaging, personality.

(24,387 posts)the "ethics" of the pricing of Hunter's art, saying that it would not command high prices if his father were not the president. Therefore, a potential Biden scandal.
I wonder which of NPR's corporate sponsors decided that this was a significant "scandal" story to cover.

(10,513 posts)the fact his dad is POTUS or anything about Hunter Biden. He is a private citizen. Sorry, but anyone who gets their bowels in an uproar about inappropriateness or scandal needs to step back and see the BIG picture. FauxNews and HateRadio are going to throw everything imaginable against the wall CUZ the Insurrectionist GOP does not want anyone shining a light on them.

where there was an excessive amount of moralizing over the propriety of a Democratic potus son selling his art. I actually read the associated review and sat with the art for awhile. I recommend expanding the photos on your screen if you can. In my opinion as an art consumer, Hunter s stuff is damn good. I wish I had the $$$ for a sample! But the gallery owner is the one who sets the price
Anyhow this phone is not the best for writing so this is basically a KnR so I can read your comments later on. Thanks again

(15,325 posts)I love this artist's work, whomever it may belong to, but the little background, as told by his own family, we have of this man's life only lends to the intrigue & the deep personal morphing into these beautiful pieces.
I wish him success & a freeing of his childhood pain thru this expression.
I'd love to visit the gallery where the paintings are displayed. Its the type of work that I could spend some time studying the details as they may apply to my own life story.
And THAT is the gift of any exceptional artist

(9,199 posts)It is TFG that made Hunter a celebrity, not Hunter's father or father's last name. Aside from the obvious talent in Hunter's work, who wouldn't want to own an original Hunter Biden work, by an artist who was made famous through scurrilous allegations leveled by the most depraved, criminal and traitorous POTUS in America's history? TFG made Hunter's artistic talent more valuable and marketable than merely sharing his father's last name. IMHO.
I personally find Hunter's work collectible in its own right, for its artistic discernment, and secondarily with added value for its connection to and context within the political period around the presidency of TFG.
EDIT: To add "criminal" to TFG's resume'
