Your catnip sketch is really nice, too. And Random Objects could be a good writing prompt.

coming out of something bad. Your painting has emotion, like music on canvas. I can feel your pain and frustration caused by the flooding.

... after a big rain.

Why she and her husband continue to put furniture and other amenities down there is a head-scratcher to me. It seems like basement flooding has happened to them at least a twenty times over the years, with sump pumps and other preventative measures only helping sometimes.

Their home is next to a creek that frequently overflows during heavy rain too.

My sister said to me, "Better than living in a drought, I guess."

Like your painting, by the way!

That why everything was at least a foot off the ground. But when you get a couple feet, things get ruined! Not too much of value was lost. But we may be out a washer, dryer, hot water heater, and a furnace.

It definitely has a swampy air to it. You’ve caught the messiness of water damage, making it look like nature in swamps. It does definitely have a wetlands look of greenery floating on the surface of water and the brown color of tree trunks and roots growing out of the water. Maybe even a fish or two meandering among the submerged roots.

You have a good eye for the details of nature and here is another example of your powers of observation and your ability to discern the details of color and form. I really enjoy the abstract ness of it.

When you paint from real life, you're constantly asking yourself, "Does it look like real?" But with abstract painting, you only worry about how it looks as it is. If that makes any sense.

Abstract paintings take on a life of their own and are always yammering at you about what you should do. People will say that anyone and throw paint on a canvas but they’re sadly mistaken. Painting is a very demanding process.
