Painters. Do you have favorite brands of brushes?

I used to use mainly Utrecht mixed synthetic brushes. Then I discovered and fell in love with Raphael Kaerell brushes. For fine work I use the thinnest Blick Scholastic Wonder White brushes--they're super cheap and I go through a lot of them. (I paint in acrylics).

How about you?

1. I find Rosemary brushes

To be the best. Although, I agree with you that the Raphael brushes are quite good. Rosemarys last a long time and clean up really well.

They don’t carry all their brushes. But, can get them if you request. I just order directly from Rosemary.

And see how I like them. The Shiraz and Red Dot look to be a good fit.

2. Hey, Bif,

I have some thirty year old natural boar bristle filberts that I still use even though they are pretty ratted out. They were made by a French company and were seriously pricey ($30. a brush in the 80's) They are not made any more. The handle of the brushes are so painted over I could not tell you what the name was. They were my favorite.

I use tons of the Blick wonder whites also... for the same reason.

Really enjoying your recent work, especially the Gray scale trees and buildings. Good stuff.

6. when i use inks

my fave brushes are a couple that i bought at nececa. elk horn and deer hair.
for caran d'ache, my fave media, i have a coule old bristle ones that were the best i could buy at the art supply store, but also several china whites.

but generally speaking, yes i do fall in love w my brushes.

8. I'm a brush junkie.

And the more I progress as a painter, I wish someone had explained brushes better to me. I’m now understanding more and realize how much money I’ve wasted on certain brushes.

9. I ended up ordering several Rosemary brushes

I'm enjoying them immensely. I think they're a tie with the Raphael brushes I already have.
