Your freestyle drawings of the buildings makes the painting so charming and wonderfully compelling. It’s a wonderful depiction.

to see how it goes.

I’ve been thinking about what you said, about the childlike wonder. I think the fact that I am only partially trained probably contributes to that. When I started up painting again, I was still drawing like middle schooler, where I left off more or less. I probably will not reach the point of realistic renderings, but that’s ok because what I can do is make pictures that are pleasing to look at anyway.

And the way you render your art is uniquely your own. It resonates with the viewers’ sense of innocence and magical wonder that we all have as children. Your ability to remind us of how we felt as children in our best moments is a gift. Don’t think otherwise.

Some of our most beloved books and illustrations were done by adults who never forgot or dismissed their sense of wonder. Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan, Stuart Little, The Cat in The Hat, etc. They are all very important.

I went to France on a school trip with I was in 10th or 11th grade an Mont St Michel was the highlight for me. Some 25 years later I went back with my husband and some friends and it was as spectacular as I remember it. You nailed it.

I brought home the brochure never expecting I would be able to go. Somehow they came up with the money and I was thrilled 🙂

I feel transported looking at it. This is such a complex subject matter, but yet your painting doesn't feel labored. It radiates relaxation and curiosity and joy.

I was there when I was 45. I remember climbing and climbing up that street as it wound around and through the town. I had to stop every few minutes and see the wonderful shops along the way.

magical, mysterious moon looming behind the spire. I wonder whatever became of them? I suspect they might be in my attic. Very few of my mementos survived.
