Thank you, gurthang, for directing me to the Figuary tutorials and videos of short, timed poses. I wanted to do an OP about it to bring more attention to this fabulous resource.
I dove right in! Here are a couple of one-minute gesture poses I drew this morning.
I'm so excited about this! I hope some of the other DU artists get as much out of this as I have.

(53,410 posts)I hope it gives you a huge boost to see how well they came out. your loose and easy gliding strokes depict the gracefulness of the human figure in quick strikes.
In figure drawing class they usually start out with these quick short sketches to loosen and warm you up. Youll have loads of these quick sketches, and many of them will be little gems like these. Only its more likely youll get less glam models and more normal poses. Just be sure to keep them all for future reference. How you perceive and react to your own art evolves quite a bit over the years.

(8,444 posts)I was so lucky in art school: we often had artists and even some professional dancers who modelled for us, so they understood what made a dynamic pose.
And yes, I was shocked at how well these came out. I'm not sure I'll know how to make the leap from sixty-second gestures to long poses, but this did boost my confidence. Thank you!

That goes for everyone here!
