the old swimming hole. Unfortunately, I overworked and muddied up the reflections down front.

Anything else I should look at when I do this again? I may switch to cotton for the next try.

2. You might think of adding the ground deleanating the lake at the bottom of the

painting to show the closest shore of the lake. You could show the tree trunks of the closest trees on either side, and maybe add some long grass at their bases to show distance. The angle now is a bit unsettling because it’s hard to tell if one’s perspective comes from floating over the lake or standing in it.

You could add the bench that would make the viewer want to sit and absorb all the beauty and peace.

3. Yeah, I might do the little beach. The bench wasn't there when we were kids. My mother

would read or paint under one of the trees while we swam.

You could tell your friend the bench has been added since and she would probably love it.

Where once you played together as children is now a place to sit in quiet contemplation, lost in the golden memories of those past days with your friend.

7. I tried adding a hint of sand, honestly I think part of the problem

are planes the lilies and water are on feel off. Like my pads should be more like dashes?

The photograph shows still, reflective water with aquatic plants growing along the shoreline. Your idea of using dashes would work very well.

You could try doing a series of studies of the same subject and then choose the one you’re most satisfied with. There really are so many possibilities! So many choices to make.

I like the addition of sand which also adds an element of warmth, reminding one of the feel of warm sand under one’s feet.

Nicely done. Someday I'll attempt watercolors. You seem to have it down!
