Wanted to do something kid like. I ended up doing several of these. A big kid just having fun!

(4,873 posts)when looking at abstract paintings, but no, their kid could not do that.
It's really interesting that you flipped that exchange on its head and created a painting that was intended to look like "my kid" did that, and it's wonderful. The careful staying within the lines! The thing is, to me, no your kid could not do this, either! At first glance, yeah, it looks like a kid painted this (congratulations!) but on *really* looking at it, this is a sophisticated watercolor.
I like this painting a lot, and not just because of the tongue-in-cheek "my kid could do that" aspect. It's interesting and fun to look at, especially that swirly background.
Kudos to you!

(24,002 posts)I wasn't sure what kind of reaction I'd get by posting this. For several years I've strived to refine my painting and paint what I see as realistically as possible. Every once in a while it's nice to just cut loose and be free with it!

(4,873 posts)but I see the occasional post from there when it pops up in Latest Threads, so I'm not aware of your earlier work.
I have to say the lily painting on the same page as your robot is very nice indeed and shows your ability to paint realistically. I liked it a lot and am always impressed when a painter is able to get such good effects from watercolor.
I hope more of your work will pop into my consciousness--you're a talented painter!
