(57 posts). . . Is the "Socialist Progressives" considered the "new Bernie group"? Or do I need to do anything else to join that group? I am 100% with Bernie, but I've been a socialist for over 40 years, and assuming I live long enough, I will be a socialist after the Sanders campaign and (hopefully) Sanders Presidency are logged into the history books. In other words, I look at the socialist group as a long term thing.

(34,318 posts)we welcome all the progressives as long as they don't derail our red leanings.
Here's my official word on the subject: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10245634
Starry, Socialist-n-TN, and I have known each other a long time here & elsewhere. We are socialist/communist and get involved in local elections to varying degrees in our respective areas of the country. I have been a precinct leader in the past and Starry is very active in her union and immediate area. We are affiliated with various leftist groups, officially and/or unofficially.
I am supporting Bernie in this election (with the observation that he is most definitely a democratic socialist and not nearly as left as some would believe - but I think would do a lot less damage than the others given the system we're dealing with). We are revolutionary (or supportive of that) in varying degrees.
We try to keep it red while staying within the TOS of the website and normally try to keep away from some of the hot topic areas (Trotsky vs. Stalin etc).
There is also a Bernie group you can subscribe to if you're interested. You'll find that here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=forum&id=1280
