For President: Convict No. 9653

On Nov. 2, 1920, Eugene V. Debs received one million votes in the U.S. presidential election while in prison. He was serving a 10 year sentence for his speech in Canton, Ohio against the war. Here is an excerpt from that speech: "And here let me emphasize the fact—and it cannot be repeated too often—that the working class who fight all the battles, the working class who make the supreme sacrifices, the working class who freely shed their blood and furnish the corpses, have never yet had a voice in either declaring war or making peace. It is the ruling class that invariably does both."

is not just the ability to speak. We should be able to act. We are able to speak and peacefully protest (sometimes), but do we really have the economic freedom to make any changes? No, because the oligarchy likes their money and doesn't want to share. It's only freedom as long as you don't challenge the system that is rigged against you.

There are only a few thousand of the really dangerous ass clowns, vs. 300 million who would be on our side. They need to be organized - yet many seem to think they are gonna shortcut that and just make people - the ones who they say control their lives - do what they want.

Yeah, right. They've had since 1920 to perfect their terror, and I see local elections today with tea party candidates running fucking unopposed. The reality is that most of the 99% really don't have a clue that they are in a battle.

And beyond that, even if they won, no one has trained them to do anything but live in servitude since they started public school. Go ahead an win - I will vote with you all day long - but don't fool yourself that anyone knows how to do anything different than they are doing today.

Most likely none of it is going to change with this election either. It needs something much bigger than either of these two sorry parties - but perhaps President Sanders will evolve into that. No one else that is on the platform right now will, but there is always the possibility of a real leader breaking out.

But like Ms. Tubman said, you can't rescue people who don't know they are slaves.
