POLICE The Police-FOR THE PEOPLE Act.
So back in July 20, 2020 I wrote up a list of things that i felt like would help the community, particularly black community but everyone and also help the police be better servants to the community.
I came up with this list based on the information that was being reported about various cases.
And I just asked the question what could have been done differently to keep these people alive?
It's a simple 17 point plan. I typed it up and forgot about it on my phone for 2 years. At the time I did post it to a few sites on Facebook. And people picked it apart with their opinions mostly saying this is a great idea but it will never happen.
Here's the thing a long time ago they thought slavery would never end.
They also thought women voting would never happen
And let's face it no one ever thought we would have a WOMAN BLACK ASIAN Madam Vice President
In a country that Waited 70 years after the end of captivity to allow black women the right to vote in1965.
It only just occurred to me that maybe people in democratic underground may find some use for this 17 point plan.
Without further ado here it is, feel free to pick it apart and include your input and let's help make it something that we could bring bring to elected officials in our neighborhoods in our communities and make happen. Because let's face it if there side can show up to school board meetings and scream about non existent CRT Education when we all know that's at the graduate school. Then why shouldn't we flood county and local officials with a plan to clean up the police department in a way that benefits both the community and the police departments.
OK let me shut up and just post this thing lol. Please ignore any of my Snark comments in the list it's one of my superpowers.
POLICE the Police. For WE THE PEOPLE ACT.
1. National and State Databases that Tracts all Officer involved Shootings.
2. Independent investigations into All Officer involved killings
3.Officers with 10 infractions on their record of public brutality Should have to undergo stress management test and Drug test.
Our Military has mandatory Drug Testing. As do Welfare recipients. Police Officers are no different. They also exist on the Tax payer dime.
4. Cameras need to be mandatory (this also protects the officers as well as the community)
Cameras, mics, and GPS tracking equipment should be mandatory at all times while on duty, and turning the equipment off should be cause for termination. The only exceptions being undercover operations.
All electronic records should be made part of a permanent record that follows the civil servant throughout their career. These records should be made public no later than 24 hours after the end of the public servant's shift If an incidenthas occurred evolving any member of our community. No exceptions. The thing that hurts this country the most is the government that alwayallows a cover-up when it's an Officer behind the gun.
5. Officers who have found to have made Knowinglg untruthful statements in official reports, either verbally or written. He or she, is to be fired immediately. Because how can they be trusted to testify under oath if they're willing to lie on official documents until they're official bosses? Loss of pension, and Criminally prosecuted for lying the same way a civilian would be prosecuted for filing a false report. We're only asking that they be treated the same as any other public citizen who knowingly lie on official police reports.
6. If fellow officers are caught corroborating with the officer who lied on an official report. Those officers will also face, loss of job, loss of pension, and face criminal charges for making a false report. How often does the blue wall of silence protector murderer. And allow him to be free to go out and do it again.
The officer in Murdered George Foreman, He had killed before and got away with it. So of course he could sit there on camera with his hands in his pocket casually killing a man with his knee.
The officer who choked Eric Garner to death, has a history of using that move. So of course he felt like he could get away with murdering a man in broad daylight with a camera on him. No one else had stopped him before right?
And the police department protected that man for 5 years.
7. All Lawsuits should be paid out of the police man's retirement funds.
I understand that every time the police have comes from taxpayers. Therefore if they feel they can mistreat us at the very least they should have to pay out of their own retirement.
8. Officers fired due to gross misconduct should not be able to move to a different jurisdiction and become an officer again. Would you allow a convicted child rapist to work in a school? Then why do we allow community serial killers to just pop from one police department to the other?
9. When a suspect is in custody and properly restrained, no more physical contact is allowed except to assist them in the vehicles, assist removing them from vehicles
And removing restraints when it is safe to do so. And I can't believe I have to say this. no police officer should be allowed to hog tie a suspect and drag them into the building. yes an officer did that to a woman on camera.
10. If anyone dies while in restraints, a murder investigation should be immediately conducted. Past and Future incidents. And the officers involved put on unpaid suspension. While the investigation happens. And sequesters if need be in a location without phones so OFFICERS "can't get their stories straight"
11. Psychological exam on all candidates for police service to weed out those who are unsuitable for the job, and required psychological exams throughout their careers to weed out those who are no longer capable. Being a police officers in an easy job. And therefore come their mental health should always be monitored.
12. 911 dispatcher's, Should always have the ability to send medical personnel to the scene the same along with the police officer. Because police have a history of hurting people who are suffering from mental illness.
Particularly black people.
13. Loss of Job if they commit domestic abuse, no ability to become an officer if they have a history Of Domestic Abuse. 70% of gun violence in this country is committed by domestic abusers. Why on Earth would we allow someone like that to legally be able to point a gun at anyone else.
14. The budgeting and staffing of public defenders should match that of the prosecution offices. No exceptions. It's shameful that money determines whether you get a good prosecution or not. Khalifa Browder an innocent young man set in Rikers for 5 years because he couldn't afford Bail. Turns out he never even committed a crime. I'm sure you know the story that poor young man committed suicide after his experience in that place.
Our country failed that young man. Our criminal Justice system is so hell bent on making sure black men lose their right to vote. They will just toss them in prison with impunity and no one does anything to stop it.
15. Any member of law enforcement should be required to reside in the district or in close proximity to the community in which they serve.
Police department should make an effort to match the racial demographics of the communities they serve.
16. Training in mental health servicing with mandatory continuing education biannually. In 2012 Adam Green was a motor as to a suffering from a diabetic. The police response was to beat him nearly to death.
17. Disciplinary issues should be a matter of public record and any agency that extends an employment offer must publish this offer in regional newspapers of note.
