I'm not one to talk to about relationships having never had one, lol, yet. But I know they can be frustrating and challenging. Life is hard enough when you have to deal with your own ego, emotions and baggage. Throw in another person whom you can't possibly ever read as well as you can yourself, and let's face it we don't even know ourselves that well sometimes, and well that's tough.

If someone dumps you, they weren't right for you to begin with nor was their commitment to your relationship strong enough to stand the test of time. And every minute spent with someone who is not right for you is one minute less spent with the person who is right.

And those turns of fortune can happen remarkably quickly.

The most disastrous blind date of my life ended within two minutes when my date begged off with a migraine -- though she ended up confessing that she wanted someone over 6' tall and well I came up short on that one. I was so demoralized by the event that I swore I was done with putting myself out there -- it was time to just give up and rededicate myself to my work for a few months. The next night I went to a bookstore to treat myself in my new monastic existence where I met my wife of 15 years for the first time...
