The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsFriday Night Vodka Buzz. Ask me anything.
Two shots to get the party started. Now, a Waldorf cocktail. Bourbon, sweet vermouth, Pernod, and angostura bitters. I dont have Pernod, so I substituted absinthe.
Its okay. Dont think Ill mix one again. Anise is not my favorite flavoring agent.
Still, buzzing pleasantly now. Busy week. Looking forward to the weekend.
I love you all
Raising a glass to my old friend ailsa girl, whom I have not seen in months. Hope shes all right.

(1,730 posts)But lately my favorite drink has been Alka-Seltzer 😏
And you have inspired me to adopt your schedule. I no longer drink during the week. Trying to get right with my body - its probably too late, though, since Im over 70.

(72,798 posts)I used to hang out in the bar at our local Greek restaurant. I knew the owner, and he would often come out of the kitchen to do a couple of shots with me. He was very, very Old World. We would clink glasses and he would say: Heres to you, my boy.
He retired a number of years ago. I miss him dreadfully, as you may imagine.

(15,268 posts)We drank shots of Ouzo. SFC Milhouse played a game with the owner involving holding 0-3 matches in your hand, unseen by your opponent. They took guesses as to how many total matches there were. The loser bought shots of Ouzo for all of us.
I was not much of a drinker.
We finally left. I asked Milhouse to stop the car so I could vomit in the street. I have not had any Ouzo these 55 years since.

(9,136 posts)for reasons I cant explain, I am unable to say beverage with a straight face. Is there something inherently silly about the word?
Aristus
(72,798 posts)But I use the word every day in my chart notes of patient visits. When I list health risk factors like alcohol (yes, yes, I know ) and sugary beverages like soda, sports drinks, etc.
