(132,411 posts)are always fascinating. Inga Muscio has a wonderful book about the c-word and its origins in Goddess worship, and being a root word for "knowledge" and "ken". The last time a male called me that to my face, I gushed my thanks at length for him honouring me with a title of the Goddess. Pretty sure he never used that word again!
