I'm a real geek for details like this (trim carpentry).

I found these pictures on Reddit.

What this looks like to me:

It looks like someone ripped a baseboard down to a narrower width, and used that ripped down baseboard for the door casing. Notice the complex cuts made to join the baseboard profile to the door casing profile. That precision is not easy to achieve or visualize.

A lot of trim carpenters would have just used something called "plinth blocks" to account for the joining of the casing to the baseboard.

I think this result will look gorgeous once it is painted up. What you are looking at here is still in process, before final painting. This is some precision work right here.
