Seeking advice on buying tires

Does it matter WHERE I buy a new set of 4 tires?

Tires plus only does tires?

The dealership?

An auto repair shop?

1. I do not know about other cities, but here in Fort Worth Discount Tires is the best

Their customer service is excellent.

I had a tire which was leaking so I went there to have it checked. Well it was a roofing nail in the tread, and they fixed the leak and rotated my tires. No charge!! I did not even buy the tires there - they are the ones which came on my car when I bought it.

I have also bought tires from Pep Boys, and their service is good but it can't surpass Discount Tires.

Wherever you end up buying them, be sure you buy the warranty.
Discount Tire Certificate (Optional Add-on)

Cost: A small additional fee per tire.
When to Buy: At purchase or up to 30 days after.

I've been doing bus with Discount Tire for decades & they've always been good to deal with.

Perhaps true of all tire shops, but a couple of times, I've received an $80 Vosa card for buying 4 Michelins.

Good luck!

3. If there is a Costco near you, check their prices...

If not, try "tirerack.com".
Many times they were cheaper even with shipping than the local stores were.

You will likely find the best prices at Costco and can also feel good knowing you are supporting a blue company that is proving tRump wrong — that’s a huge win/win!

5. Believe it or not, car dealers are very competitive on tires

I usually like Discount Tire because of their customer service, but the last couple times I have taken advantage of the dealership with a Buy 3, get the 4th for $1 promotion. They have them a couple times a year.

If you do use a car dealer, cross check multiple dealer locations as the prices do vary from one to the other.

Shop tires and prices like your detective. Watch for sales. Tire companies will order what you want.

I’ve had good experience with Cooper Tires. I usually go to Firestone, Big O or Costco.

9. I have found that in Chicago, the best prices are to be found at small independent tire repair shops.

They sometimes sell used tires and you could save a LOT of money. Just Google "tire repair shops near me" and seek out the ones in less-than-affluent neighborhoods.

13. I'll never buy tires from anyone but Costco

Best prices and best warrantee. We got new tires a few years ago. About a month later we ran over something that destroyed one of the tires. Costco repacked it for $1!

As mentioned before, they'll rotate your tires for free. Also, if you're away from home and there's a problem with your tires, you can go to any Costco and them take care of it. They'll also check your tire pressure monitors and replace them if they're not working properly.
