1. I remember that!

Fun toy for Dad, but he went back to good steel carving knives in time. He was wonderful to watch when he sharpened them. The sound of the blades was the harbinger of the holiday feast.

2. My mom got one. After that, every year it looked like she pulled the pin on a grenade and tossed it in the bird.

But unlike the others, it wasn't kept in his workshop.

Ironically, he did manage to cut off two fingers; not with the knife, but with the circular saw he'd used for decades. Not that his friends didn't harass him about that for years . . .

There will no carving the turkey this year for Thanksgiving.


I'm hosting an easy and no fuss chili and cornbread (gluten free of course) lunch for our adult children for Thanksgiving this year.


One of our adult children will be having long distance open heart surgery a few days after Thanksgiving so I'm making our Thanksgiving meal together as smooth and easy as I can. And without an abundance of leftovers.

5. I can relate to this because I am an adult child, Niagara!

I sincerely hope all goes well with the open-heart surgery. That has to be anxiety-provoking, but most procedures work out just fine.

9. lol. I wasn't sure how to word it, True

The younger generation that I host for the holidays aren't MAGA. I have some "in-laws" around my age but I don't host holidays in my home for them.


The adult child that's having the open heart surgery is flying to the Mayo Clinic to have it done. I have confidence in the fact that's this surgery is being performed in one of the top hospitals in our country and that they will have heart functioning improvement post surgery.

I don't know of any other place I'd rather have surgery done. In good hands for sure.
