Ohtani to start World Series Game 7 due to unusual two-way player rule

https://www.mlb.com/news/shohei-ohtani-world-series-game-7-2025

Here's the rule: If a two-way player (a player who is skilled at being both a pitcher and a position player) whose other position is designated hitter starts the game as a pitcher, he can play the rest of the game as a DH once he finishes his time pitching, but if the player enters the game as a relief pitcher he can't bat again once his time on the mound ends.

Since the Dodgers are in dire need of Ohtani's ability to pass out free baseballs to the fans in the cheap seats, he's gotta pitch in the first inning.

Glad I grew up when you didn't need a lawyer to play baseball. Interesting, thanks for posting. Silent Type Nov 1 #1
