Such a new, simple pleasure

I made homemade Oatmeal for the very first time. It's so much creamier than instant. I did cook it in half and half (can't let it go to waste) and topped with a little brown sugar.
I know I know.....

Just 2, chopped up, instead of the brown sugar. Oh my! I'm addicted to that stuff!

I have never liked instant oatmeal.

The next upgrade is to steel cut oats, which take about 40-50 minutes or so to cook. I put them on (4 cups liquid to 1 cup oats) while I am preparing dinner, refrigerate the batch, and just microwave a serving as desired. Half and half, almond milk, etc., brown sugar, cinnamon while cooking. Flax seed, craisins, a little butter, jam, maple syrup to serve.

Happy eating!

near you? The brand I use is Bob's Red Mill, but there are others, and NatGroc has a house brand.
Safeway, Target and Sprouts also carry, and they can be ordered online.

She usually typed recipes on 5 by 8 cards, but some are on 3 by 5 cards. Family heirlooms. I'll post when I am at the computer. Uses a double boiler on the stovetop.

People gripe about GrapeNuts: "They're like eating rocks," but the trick is to mix them about 1:1 with milk and microwave for 1 minute. Goodies are optional.

Ever have Maple candy? Soooo wonderful!

Was introduced to it at a highlighting Vermont outdoor event vendor.

Then occasionally I'd get it from our big Green Market!
🤔 Been a long time. A future visit. 👍 🙂
