well hell.

looks like i have a bowel resection in my near future. i’ve been sick and stuck in the medical industrial complex since july.
a couple trips to the er, saw a gi doc who had to have a scope. but the stricture is bad enough that i couldnt get a clean prep, so it kept getting resched.
had 1 a couple weeks ago, cd only get the scope about 1’. y that doc didnt see what was happening, i do not know. just said- need a smaller scope.
so, tried that today, and that didnt work, either.
doc admits it was visible on the 4 cts i had, but no 1 caught it.
gonna get 1 more test then see a surgeon. le sigh. always knew i wasnt gonna die w every inch of my colon. been getting worse for 20 yrs.
guess i shd b grateful i made it this far.
shd b 2-3 days in the hospital, and a temp colostomy bag.
oh joy.

But it sounds like your docs are doing the right things. Hope you have a speedy recovery and if you have any questions on this journey, I'm happy to offer clinical advice

and the worst part is docs who think that if u r 70, you’re supposed to feel like shit.
sometimes u have to get sicker for them to figure it out. ee r there now, anyway.

My uncle went through resection and a temporary bag 50 ago and lived to be 90. It ain’t no fun but you’ll do well.

I’ve had breast cancer, melanoma and I have cardiomyopathy. Turning 74 this Sunday.
Ah, the miracle of modern medicine.

this is the top of the slope that is getting to me.
i’ve already had several polyps, and a melanoma removed in feb. le sigh.

are you sure you will even need a bag? I know someone that had a foot or more resected and didn't need one at all. they do need to take cholestyrene to firm up the output if you know what I mean but otherwise all is good.

bag can actually be easier than alternative if functionality is in need of "rest/recovery" after surgery. look at it all as a new experience in how science and medicine have progressed. it really is fascinating and I know you as a mother and farmer have plenty of reality-based experience in the particular material we are talking about

yeah, put in a port. i’m tired of alllll of this.
have more tests coming, and there’s tests i want. i think all this is autoimmune. i had wnv in 02 & have been sick ever since. half doz docs admit there’s something wrong, but dont know what. some dont think it’s ai, cuz of my age. but that’s old thinking. now we know that viruses trigger this shit, but that knowledge hasnt filtered down yet.

rly dislike this doc. young, male and arrogant. also either lazy or too busy. hard to get ahold of. if he has the capacity to learn from a patient, i hope to wake him up. but….

My friend is mid 70’s and is on the frail side after repeated back surgeries. He had some type of bowel issue and ended up with a temporary colostomy bag last fall. By this spring the bag was out and he continues to thrive. From his condition going into this I was really surprised at his outcome but he is a fighter. Stay tuff, ornery and on top of your caregivers. You can do this! Never give up. Keep us in the loop so we can send love out in the universe to you! 😊🙏🏼💗
