Everybody's talking about drinking, making me want to relapse

I've been sober for a year in October.

Had a major trauma abuse situation A little over a week ago, and I haven't craved a drop. But tonight, I made a mocktail with Sprite and it's not the same. I'm really tempted to go to the corner store...

I really like this online support community. I connect periodically and love that it is just "there" when I need. I have some favorite meetings hosts (Tammi Scott being at the top of my list). There are many online meetings available each day.

Example of some upcoming:

Newcomers Meeting Hosted by Jamie Armstrong (Open)
November 6
5:00am - 6:00am PST

Beyond 1 Year Meeting Hosted by Louise Atthey (Open)
November 6
9:00am - 10:00am PST

Newcomers Meeting Hosted by Natalie Austin (Open)
Tomorrow, November 6
9:00am - 10:00am PST

And many more each day, including 50+, Women's, Men's, BIPOC, Queer specific meetings.

Better to find something better to get you through. I can't drink either and I am having a tough time getting through this too. I have pot but I don't know if that's all that good for me right now but I know if I smoke too much, I'll just go to sleep.

You can do this without alcohol, think of your accomplishments in making it this far. You really are a survivor and in respecting that, why would you want to slip backward to a bad place? You'll get through it without blowing it.

You will regret it!

22 years sober. I had a dream recently that I had a drink. It wasn’t good. I won’t do it, my dream was a warning.

Between that and my weed, I guess I'll make it through the evening. With any luck I can take a hot shower and go to bed soon I'm not even watching the news that's the funny part, I just had a very traumatic day after everything that's happened to me in the last week and a half I finally broke and cried a lot and reached out to therapy again.
I know I'm doing so well and I'm going to stick to it and I can't believe that through all this trauma I haven't craved a drink but hearing everybody talking about drinking tonight on here has really been a trigger so maybe I just need to stop scrolling....

They're counting on us being so downcast that we'll surrender with a whimper. I plan to go on enjoying my life and to hell with them.

And I'm speaking from experience. It took me awhile, went to a lot of meetings, but I have 15 years as of April 30th (2009). Don't let TFG mess with your sobriety, he's not worth it.

After 35 years sobriety, I know this with all my heart. We will endure somehow. Reach out to your loved ones and hold them tight. We are going to need all the support we can get. But alcohol isn’t the answer. Ever.

I don't know what's going through your mind currently but I do know that you've been through some crap lately.

I don't know what else that you would be interested in for a distraction. I would like to suggest some of the following:

meditation, yoga, going for walks, keeping a journal, discovering a new hobby like painting or chainsaw carving. Also getting to some AA meetings, or any support group that knows what you're going through.

Disclaimer: The lead singer Cherie Currie of the all girl rock band The Runaways quit her gig with the band due to drama, bad management and pressure. She started out getting small parts in television shows and developed a crack cocaine habit which hindered her from obtaining more acting jobs. She got sober and eventually got into chainsaw craving. Never say never.
