Peacock Spider - "Stayin' Alive"

Interesting thing I learned today:

Peacock spiders are small spiders found in Australia. The males try to attract females with elaborate displays. There are multiple subspecies, each with their own displays.

If the female likes the male, they mate. If not, she eats him.

They are the cutest, most adorable, and agreeable of spiders (imho)

Most male spiders do risk a bit on mating. Although it might be slightly overstated. I'm not entirely sure on the stats for jumping spiders, tho.

Fun fact, if a jumping spider accidentally gets on you, it is often easier to remove it by catching the near invisible web string it almost always leaves behind it. So a simple scoop behind the spider, then use it to remove the spider to a safe location.

But little jumpers are so safe, it is more dangerous for them to be around us than we are at risk. I've watched a little one try to catch a fly only for the fly to seemingly mock and tease the poor spood.

Love the vid! thanks for sharing!!
