Anal Gland Expression

Me: What’s Anal Gland Expression?
My wife: They express the anal glands.

as I was putting my dog in the car.

I said I was taking him to the vet to get his anal sacs expressed.

She looked at me quizzically and said..."Anal sex"?

We had one dog in particular that had problems with anal glands. We could always tell they were impacted when she started scooting on her butt. Sometimes it was just a piece of Bermuda grass sticking out her butthole though. I handled that chore, lol.

And my dog was part beagle. Boy could he howl. Loudly! Especially when he was in pain from his anal glands.

I had been taking him to the vet all too frequently to get his anal glands expressed (emptied).

Finally, the vet gave me a very good lesson on how to express my dog's anal glands all on my own.

Saved a lot of money that way.

I had a much happier dog.

But the smell!!!!! Wow! Anal glands are Potent!

That's got to be love. I wouldn't do that for my husband. Not sure what that says.

Anal glands can actually rupture, so it can be a biggie.

Glad your doggie is OK.
