Amazon Prime Video's "Rings of Power" is quite good.

Took me a few tries to get into it, but it's good. There are parts that drag a little, but overall, it's great. You should check it out.

...and it shows.

Each episode is like a movie unto itself.

But I get the feeling that they wouldn't like tourists.

Nice spectacle. They spent a lot on production, so the cinematography is great.

If you're looking for something faithful to the books, or even particularly well-written, not so hot.

But that doesn't apply; they have altered what they are allowed to use for their own "dramatic" purposes. No big deal, all directors/writers do this. Being personally something of a purist when it comes to faithfulness to the origin text, this is generally not to my taste, but those who are less rigorous don't have that problem.

Should the subject interest you, there is a YT series on how the Rings of Power should have been written that is interesting.

But that is from the standpoint of someone who is a canon purist (one might say fanatic), and would be irrelevant for a good portion of the viewing audience.

Taken for itself, and not worrying overmuch about "purity," there are certain problems with the writing which bother some of us, but which many others couldn't care less about. de gustibus non est disputandum. Ultimately, if one enjoys it, that's all that matters.
