(38,238 posts)but the one that has gotten the most attention is my Sam I Am costume. It's bit much, carrying around a plate of green eggs & ham, but when I went out bar hopping with a friend one Halloween, people bought me drinks all night long.

(2,314 posts)The beer keg was bought, but the carrot was an orange sweat suit, my hair dyed green and a small rabbit with a clip to hold it on and a sign that said: What's up doc?

(35,903 posts)My father's raincoat, tied with a rope at the waist.
A bicycle horn to honk.
A smashed plastic top hat.
And, of course, a ratty red wig.

(15,624 posts)As a kid, Mom knew for several years in a row to get me the Batman costume that came in the box with the plastic window that showed the mask.
Once in high school, college, and grad school, I was the Invisible Man - trench coat, gloves, and a bed sheet torn into strips to be used as bandages to wrap around my head, and then sunglasses. Believe it or not - extremely scary costume. Very uncanny valley, and it was s blank slate that you could foist your fears off on. I won a costume contest all 3 years.

(3,519 posts)I was 11. I had broken an ankle and had a full leg cast and crutches. My mother suggested the costume and helped me make wings to wear over a long white robe.
I didnt get the reference, really, but it was fun!

(9,564 posts)As a young trick or treater:
My grandmother made me a black cat costume with a tail, ears and paws. The paws on my feet were stirrups that went over my shoes. The paws on my hands could open up so that I could use my hands.
As an adult:
My favorite costumes that I wore was both a scarecrow and Regina George from Mean Girls.

This year, I haven't decided between a devil costume or the fortune teller costume.

(213 posts)in 2016, I dressed up as a cocktail waitress with tray of drinks and called myself Hillary's Server
So looking forward to her winning that year. A few days later I was crushed when she lost.

(6,810 posts)With crowns out of tinfoil and the togas were from our mom's white sheets which we neglected to ask for. Luckily, they never found out or Halloween would've been canceled that year, lol.

(9,775 posts)complete with cardboard "trash can." I took part in a local Halloween parade, and won a prize. I also got my picture on the front page of the local paper. That was my favorite costume by far, because my dad had made it for me.

(6,331 posts)I wore all back and I took rubber bands and tape and attached the thing to me. It wasn't all that much when I was in the light, but once it got charged and I walked into the dark, it looked awesome!

(68,327 posts)The year before, the First Year Of Star Wars, I wore a C-3PO costume bought from the store. My brother was R2-D2. His costume was made from a plastic trash can; my Dad made it.
In 1978, I was Luke Skywalker. I wore a pair of light tan jeans, and an off-white sweater belonging to my sister. Luke's desert boots were just carpet slippers and ACE wrap bandages around the ankles and calfs.
I wielded a stormtrooper blaster that I got from a toy store that sold Star Wars merch.
The hair was real. Back then, every guy on the block wanted Luke Skywalker's 70's-Era disco shag haircut. That did not go over well with our military fathers.

(6,261 posts)costumes so we had some amazing ones. I would say Snow White, figure skater, and Little Bo Peep, complete with hoop skirt. She even made my brother a paper mache head one year so he could go as a man carrying his own head around 😂
