Has anyone been on a local kid's show in the audience? Not me.

1. No, I never have. I never lived close enough. But Bandstand was a local show in Philadelphia

When I was about six years old. And all the kids who came to dance on it were from local mostly the Catholic schools. I was too young to go then and then I was too “cool” to go later.

3. I remember bandstand before Dick Clark. I think the guys name was Bob Horn.

He turned out to be a creep and they fired him.

But I remember getting mad at Miss Rita who hosted our local Romper Room show when I was in Kindergarten. I watched it at home in the mornings before school. She would call out girls and boys names, every day of who she "saw in her magic mirror" and of all the times, I watched she never once said "I see Linda."

It was even one of the most popular names back then. What a jip.

8. Sheriff Tex

Sheriff Tex was also known as Texas Jim Lewis. He was an entertainer in movies, night clubs, radio and TV.

19. Yes, my Cub Scout den was on Sheriff Tex. It was fun.

I also met him at the grocery store one day. He was wearing his costume, so he must have been going to work.

He was replaced by Stan Boreson because of his drinking problem. Stan Boreson was a legend and continued entertaining for years after his TV show.

when I was 8 I got to hula dance on stage with my sister when Skipper Sedly was visiting our shopping center.
We were lucky, we had Skipper Sedley and Mayor Art.

18. I was on the Captain Cy Show in Spokane when I must have been four or five. I wasn't old enough to

be in the cub scout troop but my mom was Den Mother, so I got to go too. I think they had scouts and school classes invited to be on the show. I can't remember for sure.

I was able to see JP Patches in the audience.

And...I was actually on Golden Rule School for a week with a group of other kids. The "teacher" was explaining the parts of plants and when she said "pistil" I couldn't stop giggling. My mom was mortified.

26. I appeared on the local Bozo show in the 60's. My older brother "had" to accompany me and was very embarrassed

about it

For Bozo's Circus in Chicago, parents had to sign their kids up when they were born. Two little boys I babysat for were signed up on an eight-year waiting list. When the time came for them to be on the show, they had the chickenpox. Their mother told me never to mention Bozo's Circus to her boys.

30. I attended a taping of Nickelodeon's "Double Dare" in 1986 or 1987.

Some of my fellow junior high classmates were contestants. It was taped at the PBS affiliate in Philadelphia.

the Happy Hal Show when I was 5.

I was confused because the show's set didn't look anything like it did on our TV. All those bright lights!

Nobody raised an eyebrow at a cross dresser on a kids show back in the 60's.

33. When I was a kid there was a local TV kid's show that had different kid's groups for visits.

I can't recall the name of the TV show, but it was the local afternoon show. They showed cartoons, and then talked to the local kid groups visitng that day. My Brownie Troop was in the audience one afternoon and I was briefly on TV, mostly waving!

My family lived in Tallahassee, Fl at the time.

40. I was in the audience for a taping of the Captain Gus Show, a local San Antonio program.

This was is probably 1973 or so. At the beginning of the show, Captain Gus would come out and shakes the hands of all the kids in the audience, so I got to be on TV.

But one of those high school question and answer competition shows. It filmed in Milwaukee and had 3 students and 1 alternate ( in case someone got sick or something)from different high schools competing. I was an alternate.

Cub Scout outing. Saturday morning show and won a drawing for a board game with lucky number thirteen.

The rest of us were so jealous!

Bozo was on at noon. I lived a little too far from school to go home for lunch, so I ate a bad lunch at school.
One of them even got picked for Bozo's buckets. He lived too far to go home, so his mom let him stay home from school that day so he could see himself on TV when it aired. Of course, no VCR or DVR in those days.

57. 1960 in Milwaukee

A local station and local program. Don't remember the name of the hosts, but here's one of them wearing a sailor's costume.
I believe this was at WITI and the show was probably aired live as videotape was still not practical or reliable enough.

This mob of kids including, my brother and me, the "peanut gallery," before or maybe after the show.
Everyone, of course, dressed nicely like we did in 1960!

64. I've looked all over but I can't find any pictures of when we were on the air in the studio...

...because my dad would have undoubtedly taken a few if there was a way. They probably didn't let my dad or the other parents into the studio and had them watch on a monitor somewhere else.

60. Once on a local kids show when I was 9

My Mother was in the audience. The host asked me a question and he was laughing at my answer! We stopped at my grandfathers on the way home for her to call my Dad at home about it.
