This is not the Chinese restaurant. This is a residential number and you are speaking to the lady of the house on a white, slim line telephone with last number redial facility.

Took me awhile to figure out that some lolo had written the wrong area code on the phones in the rooms, but I always said the same thing: “Sorry, but you have reached a private residence in California. And by the way, would you please tell the front desk that they need to take care of that label? “ I got quite a few chuckles.

Good old Hyacinth Bouquet.

There's another where she's talking to the vicar and asks about the missionary positions in China. Maybe there's a meme. I haven't seen KUA in many years but always watched weekly when it was on my local PBS station. Are You Being Served was another favorite back then.

This thread is loads of fun. Thanks!

Soon as Hyacinth showed up. Loved how she always referred to Rose or Daisy as "our Rose or Daisy.. And how the mailman never wanted to be caught delivering the mail. I miss this series. I miss those Sunday afternoons watching Last of the Summer Wine and Are You Being Served and Keeping up Appearances. At least As Time Goes By is still on.
