(76,695 posts)Capsaicin is VERY soluble in low chain alcohols, like the ethanol active ingredient in nearly all hand sanitizers.
Sure, soap & water works well, especially a mild synthetic detergent like dishwashing liquid.
The best I found are the hand sanitizing wipes, because aside from a tiny bit of emollient it's almost all 70% ethanol.
I have several packages because our local supermarket was giving 6 packages away just as the school year was starting.
Those work great.

Never, ever go to a super WalMart together with you husband, if he does not have a phone.

(24,788 posts)matter how many times you wash your hands after chopping habaneros, they aren't clean. Do not attempt to remove your contacts. Just think ahead and wear rubber gloves or leave the contacts in for the night.

(76,695 posts)...use hand sanitizer, then wash your hands to get the emollient off.
The ethanol in the sanitizer will definitely get the capsaicin off.

When I got upstairs with the finished dish, the doors and windows were open and 8 people and 4 cats were all coughing and gasping. I effectively pepper sprayed everybody.
