...I did that a few years ago when I visited the city. It was probably the best tourist experience of my life. Chicago is an amazing place, much nicer, as far as I'm concerned, than NYC. And as a New Englander, this is treason--but Wrigley is *much* better than Fenway. And Wrigleyville is the most vibrant urban neighborhood I've ever been in.

(16,985 posts)The Chicago architectural boat tour is sensational, for tourists and native Chicagoans alike. It's a great way to see and learn about the city's incredible buildings and their history from the river and lake front in the summer season.

(5,778 posts)I'm a native New York city resident but I really liked Chicago. We did the tour of Wrigley, (cubs were on the road) saw my Yankees at Comisky, saw Hamilton! Great city!

(5,989 posts)the 2nd hardest move for a corporation to convince a manager or executive to make is from New York City to Chicago. The hardest to convince them to move back to New York.
I've never lived in either Chicago or New York City so I wouldn't know.

(26,856 posts)visit at some point. 🤞$$ issues. I'd say Covid got in the way of me thinking about and starting to save up. Drumphf being pResident definitely affected my mood before that, too
It looks fascinating, lot of history, architecture, museums, good food!
Pretty sure my sis took the architectural tour by boat. 👍 She had very cool photos!
A fascinating to me geographical experience, too. I've been both at the southern tip of Manhattan, and the northern tip as well many times. The water of course wraps around the Manhattan Island very obviously at the ends.
Chicago is a partial inversion of that; curving very gently "around" Lake Michigan; thought it's Indiana that sits on the southern curve, itself.
I really hope I can visit! 🤞🧡
(been to Boston, Philadelphia, DC, Atlanta, San Francisco, L.A., Flagstaff, Alberqueque NM, a bit of Rapid City SD, a bit of East Lansing, Mich)

It was absolutely delightful and we would do it again.
The only negative part was having to see the Trump building from where the boat ties up, as noted in post 6 above. I pulled my visor down over my eyes and didnt look up until the building was out of sight.

(2,847 posts)they would remove that scourge of a 'brand' name off of it. If you hold one of your fingers up in just the right way
you can block that part out and enjoy the nice parts of it.

(60,189 posts)On rare occasions, I have work there. I don't know the city at all. In and out for me, but my wife, who was just along for the ride, took the occasion to explore the surroundings.
