Speaking of Easter church services; as soon as the treats were gone, I was out of there! Headed

for the Rexall to listen to the devil’s music, eat a greasy cheese burger and fries, and sip on an extra thick double malted vanilla shake.

Of course when I got home I caught a beating, but it was worth it!

In all my childhood of Catholic Masses, we never got any treats on Easter.

You aren’t allowed to eat for one hour before receiving Communion in the Catholic Mass so that took care of that. Although they could have given the kids treats afterwards! Darn!

Some of the Catholic churches have treats. My parish (technically) has occasional donut socials after Mass. We also attend a Lutheran Church (a pretty left-leaning one) and they do an egg hunt with loads of candy on Palm Sunday. They also have breakfast and treat spreads after services. This week saw first communion and Baptism during Holy Thursday and Easter services and the church had cake afterward. They also always have coffee, tea, and hot chocolate available.

Many denominations have treats on Sundays.

That is why in the Patía Valley the violin and the devil cohabit creatively transvalued. Because they live with them, in relations of one and the other with those they interact with. They elaborate and interpret the violin, they make music in an intimate spiritual, cosmic relation, with the soul of all, in relation with nature, the non-human beings, with the devil, with the sounds of the water, with the others, in a collective musical relation, in the laboriousness of their work of being farmers. I am a farmer first and foremost, first I was a dancer and then I became a musician and there I stayed composing songs, says Virgilio Llanos (2010), composer of the group Son del Tuno.
