flexed backwards and he's lying on back and side, he is dead. I see it all the time at my house--I use pieces of masking tape in dot patterns on the windows to help them "see" the windows, but recently bought some decals that look like leaves to serve the same purpose from Amazon. Good luck, I hope he flies away.

I use some white/clear snowflakes this time of year -- the clingy window things.

Seriously, it's an important thing to do.

Anything that will tell them it's a window, not an opening.

Try “wild animal rescue”. Failing that, call your local shelter for a referral.

Where I live, we have an excellent place called “WildCare”. They do great work.

Good luck to the little fellow!

And how hard it hit. I'm hoping it is stunned and will recover and fly away after a few minutes.

I live in the forest and always go out to pick them up before something has a chance to make a meal of them. Cup them in your hand - if they're still alive you'll feel their heartbeat.

Hold them till they wake up. You'll know when they do, because they pee on you. Then put them down and back away, but stay with them till they're awake enough to fly away.

If they can't fly after quite a while, it's time to call the local animal rescue.
