... she was a sweet lady, but I avoided visiting her because of the FLEAS that were everywhere in her grass and sand yard. It was impossible to walk to her door without getting a swarm of fleas attacking you. (We used to bring her food and I'd have to drench my legs with Off! mosquito spray... and even that wasn't enough.) I wonder what other diseases they had. But, she kept feeding them, and they kept reproducing and reproducing and hanging out.

After she died, the county animal control captured them all and dispatched them... they were not "pet" material.

Sad.

for whatever reason, some good.

I'm glad this lady stepped in to care for them. They seem pretty tame and it doesn't look like they've presented her with kittens.

She won't have to worry about rats or mice.

They were well behaved so I just accepted them and they were happy with me. When I moved, the new renters were happy to take on the cats so they got to stay in the same house.

I called them Boris and Natasha = the male was short and chunky, the female tall and lean, so the names seemed to fit.

and really resist moving to new territories, so that worked out for the best for everybody, although I'm sure you missed them.

There's a cat owned by one of the neighbors who waltzes in here like she owns the joint when I leave the door ajar to get the mail. She usually doesn't stay long, just a look around and an ear scritch and then a meow to be let back out. I think it's hilarious.

When we bought our house about 25 years ago, the owners had two cats and two dogs. They were taking the dogs with them when they moved, but they were going to take the cats to the Humane Society. My hubby said, "No, no, no. Let them stay. It's their house." (I LOVE him!)

Jack was a tabby. Arnie was a gorgeous calico who lived almost twenty years.

They're both gone to the rainbow bridge now, but we've had cats ever since.
