A friend who works at a particularly well known adoption center in Denver told me the number of Cats that adoption agency had to put down in a single year. The number was staggering, and the number of dogs euthanized was also absolutely stunning.......

5. Our little kitty chose us a few years ago.

My kids and some friends were out at a concert. We stopped for gas on the way home, and this young woman came up to me and said, "I know this is a weird question, but do you want a kitten?"

I said, "Yeah, that's a weird question," and laughed. The instant she put this little kitten in my arms I knew she was ours. The woman said she had found her playing in the road and was worried that she would get run over. She was going to take her to the H.S., but then saw us. She said we looked like a nice family (sweet, huh?) and thought she would ask.

We checked with he H.S. for a couple of weeks, but no one came looking, so we kept her. Her name is Quantum (because she can go from one spot to the other without being in the space between ), and she is a love bug.

They really do choose their families.
