Doowop. I love it! But why were the doowop groups

All from the northeast? ( mainly NYC).

I never heard of any doo-wop group from the late 50s early 60s from the South, the Midwest, nor the West.

Philly had a number of doo-wop groups. Singing in the halls of school between classes did not just happen in the movies. The movies copied real life. A short period of time between the Civil Rights Act/Desegregation of public schools and the tragic acts of terrorism that ended the sixties were truly magical. Someday someone should make a movie about these few years.
