Some sane people who understand MAGA for what it is, have left the party. But the polls don't indicate DROVES. It's the politicians who need to change.

when I became aware of the total disregard the the Republicans had and have for the poor. I switched when Reagan was running for a second term. Looking back, I believe I was really a liberal thinker all along, but just wasn't paying attention. I was 'R' because my parents were. My sense of being a progressive liberal has grown stronger and stronger since then. I am a USAF veteran 1969-1973.

Unfortunately the country will have to survive for that year. I wish the US had some kind of option to hold special elections but I guess if there was something like that the rethugs would find a way to further destroy the country. We just have to hang on another year till we can vote the idiots out. Let’s hope we can make it that long.

Always check them out at least once a day and usually more, just like I do here at DU.

I can't say I have always voted Democratic. I would vote for third-party candidates frequently, but the danger of the GOP has taken away any option. To be clear, I do not hate or dislike the GOP, but the GQP can take a flying leap. As one of the former GOP voters alluded to, the RINO GQP is the real Republican in Name Only. They do not represent real conservativism I doubt I would ever agree with the GOP, but they make a good counterbalance to the left. I hope the GOP defectors can return to their party at some time in the future, and we can return to civil disagreement.

What they do with it is only selfishness. I only see a political party dedicated to grabbing as much money as they can. Donald Trump is their motivational leader.
