14. He's been making claims like this for years

A guy I've been friends with since the early 1990s (when we met in college) used to be as in love with Ted as a homophobe can be in love with another man, and he said Ted used to be called on by local law enforcement to go on raids with them. I patiently explained to them that it was highly unlikely that police officers would feel the need to contact a civilian - no matter how good he was with a gun - to go on armed raids, and there was likely no Nugent signal or hotline to the Nugent Cave. He wouldn't hear anything against Ted though. Fortunately, he's grown out of it and now thinks that Ted is an idiot.
