House Democrat to file articles of impeachment against Hegseth over boat strikes: 'War crimes have been committed'

Michigan Rep. Shri Thanedar accuses defense secretary of ‘murder and conspiracy to murder’ over deadly strikes on alleged narco-boats and ’reckless and unlawful mishandling of classified information’

A House Democrat has pledged to file two articles of impeachment against Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth over his actions against alleged drug boats in the Caribbean and Pacific and his part in the “Signalgate” scandal.

In a video posted to social media, Michigan Democrat Shri Thanedar explained: “Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is uniquely unqualified for his role. Every day, it becomes clearer he is engaging in unlawful, illegal activity.”

Thanedar said the first would be “for murder and conspiracy to murder” over the deadly strikes on alleged narco-boats and the second for the “reckless and unlawful mishandling of classified information,” referring to Hegseth discussing plans for an airstrike on Houthi rebels in Yemen earlier this year in a group chat on the messaging app Signal.

“And if both parties, if Republicans are willing to look at this for the merit of this case and not just their loyalty to President [Donald] Trump, this can be done.”

What we need now more than anything is support -- i.e., co-sponsorship -- from every patriotic member of the House who gives a shit about their oath to support and defend the U.S. Constitution.

And we need articles drafted and co-sponsored by every member of the U.S. House who claims they are a patriot against Trump, his co-conspirator Vance, and every other member of the cabinet.

Of course, they will go nowhere right now, but we need them to exist, and we need the articles drafted to have broad, visible, support within the party. Each document would be an incredibly powerful tool that can be cited in every discussion that touches on the lawlessness of these people.

In addition, the articles need to be backed by public declarations that list the principle crimes in simple language. This is absolutely necessary to build the political will to act.

Furthermore, we need criminal referrals against every member of the cabinet for the crimes they are committing. Of course they won't be acted upon by Bondi, but along with the draft articles of impeachment against the member of the cabinet, the existence of specific referrals against them can be cited in every conversation that involves that criminal conspirator.

Yes, our electeds are right to focus on the economy, but we need them to get a hell of a lot louder about the Un-American, Un-Patriotic Self-dealing, Corruption, and Crimes being committed in plain sight by Noem, Patel, Bobby, Witkoff, Trump, and on and on. Weaken the regime by going after key figures, not just Trump.

We also need to be calling on Democratic Senators to step up and create a task force akin to the House Democrats Litigation / Response Task Force.
