'They tried to kill him' is now the bogus claim Vance uses to introduce Trump

(USA Today) Being the running mate on Donald Trump's presidential ticket has always required a certain flexibility with truth and accuracy.

But U.S. Sen. JD Vance, the Republican from Ohio now running to be Trump's next vice president, stretched the truth well beyond the breaking point twice this month while introducing the former one-term president at rallies.

Vance, in both speeches, echoed the conspiracy theories that cropped up right after Trump survived an assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania last month.

"They" are the new villain in Trump world, as in "they tried to kill him." But who are "they"? The speeches provide plenty of clues, even as the Trump campaign dodged my attempt to get clarification on who Vance was talking about.

Deciding on donuts after scaring the bejeezus out of the people that worked there. Why on earth would they be freaked out after secret service agents and a large camera-wirlding media entourage came charging into the shop without notice?

They are unhinged young AR-15-wielding white males who have been radicalized to a point that even Donald Trump is not extreme enough for them. Aided and abetted by cowardly politicians who will not lift a finger to support reasonable gun safety legislation. Until this changes, military-grade weapons will continue to fall into the hands of individuals who are more than willing to pursue political violence as a means of "taking their country back".

My guess on hearing that the shooter researched both conventions before deciding on the local event in Butler is that he wanted to be famous, like Lee Harvey Oswald.

It sounds like cross-dresser JD has sympathetically complied with the shooter's preference.

I could swear I read that when his name was announced in the media.

It seems that Vance is using the wrong pronoun. He should be saying, "We tried to kill him."
