The Department of Homeland Security is asking its largest law enforcement agency to remove any videos featuring former Secretary Kristi Noem that may still air at airports or other ports of entry, four months after she was ousted.

In an email sent to Customs and Border Protection last week, obtained by HuffPost, Secretary Markwayne Mullin’s office asked the agency to report if any videos were currently playing.

“If so, please kindly remove them as soon as possible and provide confirmation of removal,” the email stated last week, according to the news outlet.

The reported email marks the department’s latest efforts to revamp outward-facing policies since Mullin took over Noem’s responsibilities. Mullin has opted for a lower-profile approach to immigration enforcement – with his most recent action being the removal of “Protect the Homeland” branding on vehicles to make them more discreet, Politico reported. The Independent has asked the Department of Homeland Security for comment.

Kristi Noem’s replacement has reportedly ordered her image to be scrubbed from all public advertisements tied to the Department of Homeland Security.

Noem was ousted from her role as the Secretary of Homeland Security in March. Throughout her time in the role, Noem faced widespread criticism for her handling of Trump’s immigration crackdown, earning a reputation as one of his most ruthless henchmen. However, after it was announced that she would be removed from her position, Noem quietly disappeared from the public eye.


Now, her successor, Markwayne Mullin, has reportedly ordered border officials to track down and delete any remaining airport videos featuring Noem, the Daily Beast reported.


The outlet reported that an email was sent from Mullin’s office to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, asking whether any recordings of Noem were still running in airports or other entry points, according to a message obtained by HuffPost and reported Tuesday.

“If so, please kindly remove them as soon as possible and provide confirmation of removal,” the email, sent last week, stated.
