Satellite images reveal scale of Israeli demolitions as Lebanese villages destroyed

BBC Verify analysis found more than 1,400 buildings had been destroyed since 2 March based on verified visual evidence.

This is just a snapshot of the overall damage caused by Israeli air strikes and demolitions, because of limited access on the ground and available satellite imagery. The true scale is likely to be much higher.

Israel's levelling of these structures comes after Defence Minister Israel Katz's order on 22 March to "accelerate the destruction of Lebanese homes" near the Israeli border based on the "model in Gaza" as part of its campaign against Hezbollah.

The systematic demolition of these towns and villages may amount to a war crime, international law experts told BBC Verify.

International rules of war prohibit carpet bombing of residential areas and infrastructure. Acceptable terms of engagement is limited to attacking military combatants and personnel, their military equipment and supplies and any military infrastructure.

The indiscriminate carpet bombing of civilians is not permitted, nor is terrorizing the civilian population to punish any insurgencies. Netanyahu/Israel are busy building a new GREATER ISRAEL and capturing Arab lands to then fold this new captured land in to the (now enlarged) State of Israel.

Carpet bombing via the use of American supplied bomb and missiles is the war plan. The International Criminal Courts should examine Israeli illegal war techniques and then punish them to force them to stop this approach of resolving disputes with their neighbors via habitually committing war crimes on Israel's behalf, while they erroneously and deceptively claim to seek peace.

This is a land grab campaign of Israel to achieve the dream of a GREATER ISRAEL, while using American military technology superiority and advanced weapons systems to grab land from their Islamic neighbors.

Gaza and Lebanon have always been about grabbing the land. Bibi could care less about the death and destruction, especially when trump approves and assists. The US, Canada, and EU should cut off support for Israel and Saudi Arabia. There should be a global divestment movement like was done to Apartheid as well.
