LINCOLN A new Federal Election Commission complaint filed Tuesday by the chair of the Nebraska Accountability and Disclosure Commission alleges a political action committee affiliated with independent U.S. Sen. candidate Dan Osborn illegally paid people working on his campaign.
Jeffery Davis' complaint alleges the Osborn-affiliated Working Class Heroes Fund paid a total of $103,625 to 23 people over six months in 2025 from its "soft money" account, which federal law explicitly prohibits from being used to directly support a federal campaign because it is unregulated and not subject to FEC oversight.
During that same time period, those same individuals received $101,308 from the Osborn campaign, according to Davis' complaint.
"Reporting it would not have made it legal. The source of the money is what makes it off limits, period," Davis said at a press conference Tuesday.
