White House Ballroom Proposal Now Open for Public Comment
By Prince Of Petworth

Thanks to J. for passing on from the National Trust for Historic Preservation:
The National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC) has opened public comments on the proposed 90,000-square-foot ballroom addition to the White House. ... Written comments are due March 4 at Noon ET.
The White House is a National Historic Landmark and National Park, owned by the American people and stewarded by the National Park Service. ... Public input should occur before construction makes the outcome irreversible.
As National Trust President and CEO Carol Quillen has stated: The American people deserve an opportunity to provide comment and shape the project. ... Commissioners need to hear directly from the public.
Please take a few minutes to submit your comment.

Demolishing the house all of a sudden, it's a crime scene that was never investigated.
Sort of like asking for forgiveness instead of permission, but they never ask for forgiveness either.

(15,492 posts)I vehemently oppose the construction of an enormous ballroom where the beautiful historic East Wing used to stand. It was demolished without public comment or permitting, after assurances it would not be touched.
The President Donald J Trump Ballroom would be architecturally ruinous to the White House. Worse, it would be a monument not to America's greatness, but to the convicted felon who rules by decree and uses his office for personal profit and retribution against anyone who displeases him.
If this monstrosity is built, I would fully support its demolition when this disgraceful president is out of power.
