New details emerged Wednesday about the second strike by the U.S. military on an alleged boat on Sept. 2 that killed two survivors, according to a source familiar with the incident.

The two survivors climbed back onto the boat after the initial strike, the source said.

They were believed to be potentially in communication with others in the vicinity and were salvaging some of the drugs that had been the boat’s cargo, the source said, and because of these actions were determined to be "still in the fight" and considered to be valid targets.

They've had a chance to come up with another lie - hoping that this one sticks.

Didn't they show pics of these two guys clinging to the boat and not trying to climb back on?

They've released plenty of footage of other strikes... Surely they can back this claim up without sacrificing some imagined security issue

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Pentagon knew there were survivors after a September attack on an alleged drug boat in the Caribbean Sea and the U.S. military still carried out a follow-up strike, according to two people familiar with the matter.

The rationale for the second strike was that it was needed to sink the vessel, according to the people familiar with the matter who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to discuss it publicly. The Trump administration says all 11 people aboard were killed.

What remains unclear was who ordered the strikes and whether Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was involved, one of the people said. The details are becoming crucial as lawmakers have launched investigations and are seeking to determine whether the U.S. acted lawfully during its military operations.

The questions are expected to emerge Thursday during a classified congressional briefing with the commander that the Trump administration says ordered the second strike, Adm. Frank “Mitch” Bradley.

But even if true, hitting the boat a second time was still a war crime or murder. They presented zero danger. The proper action would have been to rescue and capture them. Then if they truly were drug smugglers, the US might be able to get more useful info from them. But of course, Trump, Hegseth & the people who followed the orders never gave a damn whether the baot was carrying drugs or not to begin with. They just wanted to kill themselves some "furriners".
