Campbell Soup executive called its products food for "poor people," lawsuit claims

Source: CBS News

A lawsuit filed in Michigan last week alleges that a Campbell Soup Company executive made offensive comments about Indian workers and said the company's products were for "poor people" during a conversation with a former employee.

The suit was filed by Robert Garza, who was hired by Campbell's as a cybersecurity analyst in September 2024.

Garza alleges that Campbell's executive Martin Bally made the offensive remarks during a meeting in November 2024, which was intended to discuss his salary. According to the lawsuit, Bally made several comments about Indian workers and said that Campbell's is "highly [processed] food" for "poor people."

It's lightly processed.

Campbell apologizes for the confusion.

simple ingredients and broth can be enough for many great soups.

One of my favorite chicken stews is just dark meat chicken pieces, tomatoes, potatoes, onions, bay leaves, spices, in an instant pot for 20 minutes. Low effort, major deliciousness.

My fav soup - chicken, onion, carrots, celery, parsley- so simple just throw it all in the pot. My grandmother made it once a week when I was a kid.

It’s been 30 yrs since I bought a can of Campbell’s soup - same with McDonald’s.

They make enough dough without a contribution from me. I bet their markup on salt, water, and a few other sweepings is astronomical.
Some people don’t have the sense to just shut up and cash their undeserved huge paychecks.
