Well, he lived 12 years afterwards (ignoring his moral suitability to receive it)... Anything beyond 5 years is good.
And, I don't doubt he would have met the criteria based on the severity of then current symptoms. But, yeah, I get it. I always wondered about the family of that person and how they felt about it--especially early on after the transplant.
