President Donald Trump urged New Yorkers to vote for former Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the citys mayoral race on the eve of the election.
Whether you personally like Andrew Cuomo or not, you really have no choice. You must vote for him, and hope he does a fantastic job, the president wrote on Truth Social on Monday, adding that Cuomo is capable of it and that Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani is not!
Trump has previously offered tepid support for the former Democratic governor whos running as an independent, casting the election as a choice between the better of two bad options, while completely discounting the Republican candidate. Im not a fan of Cuomo one way or another, but if its going to be between a bad Democrat and a communist, Im going to pick the bad Democrat all the time, to be honest with you, Trump told CBS 60 Minutes in an interview that aired Sunday.
Mamdani quickly seized on Trumps comments in that interview, posting his congratulations to Cuomo on X on Sunday and adding, I know how hard you worked for this. Trump on Monday repeated his threats to deny federal funding to New York City if Mamdani, a democratic socialist, wins.

(39,763 posts)Actually there's no way to know if Cuomo courted Chump's endorsement ... he probably didn't.

(5,492 posts)He was part of the IDC, the "Independent Democratic Caucis" in the State Senate who always worked with the GOP to give the GOP control of our state senate. It took targeted primary challanges to end that fraud, 7 of the 8 got kicked out. Then Cuomo started acting centrist and doing liberal like publicity stunts. Even while he was acting liberal he backed a boondogle to fund a billionaire to try and put ten more super tall office towers around Penn Station.

But then his WABC-owner billionaire "boss" of his talk show told him to get out of the race and he quit the show instead, after 35 years.
I used to listen to the various iterations of his show (including when he had his ex-wife Lisa on as a co-host) in the '90s and early 2000s (could pick up 770 AM WABC here in Philly).

I followed Grant from WABC to WOR then back to WABC as they batted him around from station to station thanks to his rude, crude ignorant discourse.

Remember Lynn Samuels? I loved her, even when I was a Republican.

(164,341 posts)and I also listened to Lynn Samuels including the day that Rash Limpballs took her slot (and her studio) back in '88 when he made his debut on WABC (and she was jokingly whining about it but still whined). Also listened to Sliwa (when it was Curtis and Kuby and then him alone and then with his wife Lisa), when he was on the 6 am slot.

Let the voters decide and be done with it.
